Why Slice

Slice is the first AI-native equity management platform. At Slice, we're rebuilding the infrastructure behind global equity, allowing companies to run their entire equity lifecycle on Slice - grants, vesting, approvals, exercises, reporting, and compliance - in one place, with global legal and tax expertise built into every step.

Equity is the single most valuable thing a company gives its people - and it is also one of the most complex things a company manages. Most companies still manage this across legacy platforms, spreadsheets, and email threads, with HR, Legal, and Finance each holding a different version of the truth. Slice replaces all of it with one platform: an agent that runs planning and reporting and answers any equity or tax question on demand, workflows that carry a grant from request to signed approval, and compliance built in across 66+ countries - so the expertise lives in the system, not in a lawyer's inbox.

Headquartered in New York and Tel Aviv and backed by Insight Partners and law firms including Wilson Sonsini, Cooley and Fenwick, Slice sits at the intersection of fintech and legaltech. We're built by former practicing lawyers and equity professionals who know this work from the inside.

This is a hard problem with no incumbent that has solved it. The market is enormous, the work is deep, and the bar is high. If you want to spend the next few years building something that didn't exist before - alongside people who are unreasonably good at what they do - we'd like to meet you.

Function Overview

Slice's Legal Engineering team is made up of former practicing corporate lawyers who translate real legal work into product.

Legal Engineers are the expert layer across the customer lifecycle. They lead technical demos, onboarding, and enablement alongside our Account Executives and Customer Success team. They sit with CFOs, general counsels, founders, and equity administrators to map out how grants are actually approved, issued, and reported today, and then rebuild that process within Slice.

Domain expertise is the job. Customers run their most sensitive corporate work on Slice - grants, cap tables, reportings - and they expect it to come out faster and more accurately than the way they were doing it before. A Legal Engineer has to be able to walk a GC through a multi-jurisdiction option plan, spot a gap in a board consent before it becomes a problem, and then build the workflow in Slice to prevent it from recurring. That combination - practicing-lawyer judgment plus a builder's instinct - is the role.

Legal Engineers don't just drive adoption. They shape the roadmap. What you learn in a customer's ESOP journey is what our engineers ship next quarter.

This role is based in New York and works closely with our Product and R&D teams in Tel Aviv.

What You'll Do

Pre-Sales

  • Partner with Account Executives through the sales cycle, as the legal domain expert in the room.
  • Lead technical demos and deep dive sessions into the product.
  • Map how a prospect runs equity and governance today, and show them what it looks like on Slice.
  • Carry what you hear in those rooms straight back to Product and R&D.

Post-Sales

  • Own the relationship once a prospect signs: founders, CFOs, general counsels, equity administrators.
  • Run onboarding end-to-end - migration, data reconciliation, pressure-testing against source documents - until the customer is live and self-sufficient.
  • Sit with a GC and CFO and build out their grant, approval, and exercise workflows on live matters.
  • Turn what customers need in practice into concrete feedback for Product and R&D.
  • Write the guides, playbooks, and customer-facing content that make the next implementation faster.
  • Build long-term customer relationships to ensure successful adoption and retention.

Requirements:

What You Have

  • LLB, JD, or equivalent legal qualification.
  • 2-3 years practicing as a corporate lawyer - at a law firm, in-house, or advising VC-backed companies.
  • Real exposure to venture financings, equity compensation, or corporate governance work: grant packages, board and shareholder consents, cap tables, option plans, secondaries.
  • The ability to run several matters at once, in a fast-paced environment, without letting quality slip.
  • Tech-savvy by instinct. You adopt new software quickly and you're comfortable being hands-on in a product.
  • A bias toward ownership. In a company at this stage, the scope of your role is whatever you're willing to pick up.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with equity management platforms.
  • Exposure to multi-jurisdiction equity plans, global entities, or mobile-employee tax issues.
  • Background in startup law, venture financing, or equity compensation structures.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in legal practice.

Why Join

  • Leave practice without leaving the craft. You'll use your legal expertise every day - just on the building side of the table, designing how the work gets done rather than doing it by hand.
  • High ownership from day one. Small team, customer-critical workflows, no layers between you and the work.
  • Technical depth. Legal, product, and financial engineering in the same job.
  • Direct line to the roadmap. Partner with the engineers and designers in Tel Aviv actually building this.
  • Real trajectory. Early team hires in NYC shape what this function becomes - and grow with it.
  • Direct access to founders and leadership.

Compensation Range: $160,000 - $220,000 USD (Offers Equity)
